Lisa Pierce, MA, LMHC is a mental health therapist bringing transformation and inspiration to the client’s she serves. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Washington, and a Master of Arts degree in counseling psychology from The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology. Her passion is integrating Christian methods of inner healing with psychology. She has found that the church and psychology are often isolated from one another and that combining both methods of healing is particularly restorative. She also honors clients who come from other religious faiths or no faith at all, and welcomes anyone seeking healing.
Lisa has worked with a wide range of ages, from three years to sixty years. She is currently working on advanced certification in Lifespan Integration, a breakthrough therapy helping clients develop better adaptability, flexibility, and self-control. She has been trained through level two, and uses LI in treating trauma, depression, anxiety, and attachment struggles for children and adults. Lisa assists adoptive parents in building strong, secure attachments with their adoptive children, and also enjoys working with adults in overcoming insecure attachment styles of relating. Lisa is also trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) through the extern level, (this is the new premier couples modality, bringing success rates up from 35% to 75%). She enjoys helping couples become more accessible and emotionally responsive to one another. She has a foundation in Relational Psychodynamic therapies in her years at The Seattle School, and has been trained in various Cognitive Behavioral methods of therapy as well. Lisa is particularly passionate about working with children and adults to overcome the effects of trauma from sexual abuse, physical abuse, and domestic violence. Lisa is credentialed as a Washington State Licensed Mental Health Counselor (Credential # LH 60877931).
Lisa has over five years experience working in a community mental health setting, providing counseling to children who had trauma or behavioral issues, parenting sessions for parents wanting to be more effective in their parenting, working with adults in trauma, depression, anxiety, and dissociative disorders, and also counseling couples seeking to find a way back to the intimacy they once knew.
Lisa is foremost a relational psychodynamic therapist and an attachment-based therapist. She also uses other modalities as needed. This means she sees problems from a relationship perspective. Attachment-based models hold that our first relationships served to develop our sense of self and since we are wounded in relationship, we are also healed in relationship – the therapeutic relationship is just such an opportunity for healing. The Relational Psychodynamic model of therapy values emotional honesty, and holds that the therapeutic relationship is vital to understanding your relationships outside of therapy. You can expect her to be open and honest with you, and provide a safe, confidential, non-judgmental space for you to explore your deepest struggles.
