Education and Clinical Experience

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a private practice working in affiliation with Northwest Family Life Learning & Counseling Center.

I moved to Seattle and obtained a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology as well as a Master of Arts in Christian Studies from The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology.

Additionally, I attended Duquesne University where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a focus in Music Education in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Prior to being in private practice, I worked with adults, adolescents and children who struggled with debilitating and chronic mental illnesses in a clinical inpatient psychiatric unit for four years.

Before moving to Seattle, I was a youth pastor for several years in Virginia.

Therapeutic Approach
Counseling offers the glorious opportunity to listen, to learn and to grow the story of our lives — the contours, the themes, the joy, the sorrow.

My approach to both brief and long term counseling is essentially relational — drawn from a Biblical narrative as well as psychological theories like attachment, object relations, cognitive behavioral therapy, existential and psychodynamic.

In my practice, I spend time with individuals and families who have experienced difficult life situations — trauma, abuse, violence, relational brokenness, marital & parenting difficulties. Others feel the weight of depression, anxiety, loneliness, isolation, or struggle in secret with cycles of addiction.

As we let our lives speak & allow our lives to be spoken into by others with strength and compassion, we discover something more of the goodness, life, and deep relationship for which we were made.

Personal Interests
I love spending time with my wife.  We both enjoy streams and waterfalls tucked away in the mountains, as well as creating delicious home-cooked meals together.

While indoors, I often have a guitar or a book in my hands.

My favorite author is J.R.R. Tolkien and I deeply enjoy acoustic blues.
