Therapeutic Approach

Are you wishing for a way of living that will satisfy your soul?

Meeting together provides space for you to move towards wholeheartedness, living and existing in ways that 
utilize your whole self.  We are wonderfully complex creatures, with the capacity to want more than one thing at the same time.  One part of me wants emotional intimacy and longs for it with all the longing I can feel.  Another part of me is scared to death of it.  Yet another part of me knows how to numb out with entertainment, helping me to remain unaware of the conflict between yearning and fear.  Is your experience like this?

Sometimes when our experience is painful and we don’t find the necessary support, one part of ourselves takes up the task of helping to resolve this pain and to keep us safe.  Often this tactic looks like silencing and hiding our most vulnerable parts.  Sometimes these attempts create negative long term effects; a silenced part can exert considerable pressure from the inside.  Anger, chronic worry, or depression may be symptoms, ways to both protect and silence the hurt.  Compulsive habits or addictions are often used as ways to manage these pressures.  Is this your experience? 

I provide safety, compassion, and careful listening so each part can be fully understood and helped to heal.  Rather than looking at just the behaviors, we will look beyond the habits to what each part of you is saying underneath.  There is more to you than just the habits, something amazing and wonderful.  You have the capacity for compassion, strength, and care within you as well.  I help with finding this capacity and support you in using it to bring healing to each part of yourself.

Personal Interests

I enjoy hiking and camping, going on outings with my wife and daughters, reading fantasy/sci-fi books, watching the current run of super-hero movies, fixing computers, and having the long conversations that always seem to happen during road trips.  I am fascinated by science, especially astronomy, and derive a lot of joy from articles in Scientific American.
