Welcome!

Seeking counseling is a courageous decision.  So, take a deep breath – you are taking an important step in your healing process!

In my counseling office in West Seattle, I work with women and men who desire change and healing in their lives.  Counseling, at its heart, is about building a therapeutic relationship of trust and care.  My role will be to listen deeply to your story and work to understand your current situation and the many factors that have influenced your life.  Your work will be to speak your truth, to tell your stories through words, movement, art, writing, etc…Together, we will find your unique path to restoration and healing.

I specialize in the area of trauma and abuse.  I am able to work with you to address issues related to: domestic violence, sexual abuse, depression, anxiety, addiction, spirituality, secondary trauma, and grief.

Along the way, my work with you is informed by the relationships you have with yourself and others (Relational Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy), the influence your family has had on you (Family Systems), as well as the impact larger systems have had in your life (Feminist, Multicultural and Critical Social Theories).  I also often use Trauma Focused Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Somatic Therapy, and Mindfulness in my work with clients.

I am passionate about creating a culturally-sensitive space where we can talk about the intersecting identities which form the pieces of your story.

Training

I hold a Masters in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology and a Bachelors in Education from Washington State University.  I have over 20 years of experience working in a variety of educational, nonprofit, and residential settings both here in Washington State and in Latin America.  I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate in the state of Washington.
