Everyone has a story. In both good and harmful ways, the experiences in your story have affected and shaped you – have made you who you are. If you are seeking therapy, you may currently be experiencing the events in your story as painful. I would like to give attention to your story as you tell it in the context of safety, acceptance, and respect. As a counselor, I will help you make meaning of your unique narrative and turn the page to author new chapters with hope.

Whether you are seeking change within a relationship, your circumstances or yourself, therapy is a healing path that can offer new opportunities for deep transformation. I believe there is beauty and redemption in every story and I am committed to helping you find the beauty in yours.

Your story needs to be told and I want to listen.

FORMAL TRAINING

I am a licensed mental health counselor associate (LMHCA) and I hold a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from the Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. I also have formal training in the use of EMDR for trauma relief and in Emotional Focused Couples Counseling. I am an Affiliate of Northwest Family Life and a member of the American Mental Health Counselors Association.

Before opening my private practice, I worked at Compass Behavioral Health in Snohomish where I gained experience in helping people often struggling with poverty, mental and physical forms of illness, anxiety, depression, and recovery from addiction.

MY THERAPEUTIC APPROACH

I believe that the human experience is fundamentally fulfilled in relationship. Your Story Therapy is driven by your narrative and is a client-centered and relational approach. This psychodynamic orientation is a synthesis of various psychoanalytic approaches, attachment theory, and interpersonal neurobiology. In my assessment of need, I also take into account the impact of trauma which I will seek to resolve through current well-studied techniques in which I am trained. This means that I will adapt my approach to your therapy in ways that are specific to your needs and desires. I work from an assumption that healing and wholeness will come about through a collaborative relationship which fosters self-knowledge, security, and skills for success.

MY STORY

I have a lifelong passion to help people thrive and understand their worth. I find no greater joy than to walk with people in the deep places of their stories and to mirror back to them the beauty I see of God’s image in them.

I have lived in the Pacific Northwest all of my life and I currently reside in Snohomish with my husband of 38 years. I delight in having six adult children, four sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law, and soon to be 11 grandchildren. I enjoy writing, traveling, domestic arts, music, occasional acting, hospitality and learning new things. My faith in Jesus Christ and my quest to follow Him is the wellspring of my life and practice.
